Riding A Skinny Horse…?
We bought an Arab Gelding which is a little under weight (150 lbs.) and working hard to gain it back! He is 19 yrs. old. Thanks to everyone on here, I have read, and re-read, many of the questions and answers related to fattening him up, and the causes for his low weight. We are on the right track! Hooray!
I am wondering if there are any tricks to softening his riding experience when I put my two daughters on him (at separate times). I am well aware of Gel Pads for under the sadle, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions to soften the ride for him. He’s 19, and I want his life to be a “pleasure”!!!

Using a thick saddle pad and a saddle blanket should help some.
